Edmark Education Pty Ltd (ACN 700 341 028, ABN 75 700 341 028) collects personal information about you when we help you apply to study in Australia. This page explains what we collect, why, who we give it to, and how you can see or correct it.

We handle personal information in line with the *Privacy Act 1988* (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) it contains.

What we collect

To do our job we usually need:

• Identity and contact details — your name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, address, phone number and email
• Academic history — transcripts, certificates, English test results (IELTS, PTE, TOEFL), and details of previous study
• Study and work background — your CV, employment history, and any professional registrations
• Financial information — evidence of funds where an institution asks for it as part of an application
• Your current visa and study history in Australia — what you hold now and when it expires, so we can tell you which courses and intakes are open to you
• Health information — only where it is needed to arrange your Overseas Student Health Cover, or where an institution requires a disclosure for a placement or a course with health requirements

Sensitive information

Health information is sensitive information under the *Privacy Act 1988* (Cth), and APP 3 sets a higher bar for collecting it than for ordinary personal information.

We collect health information only with your express consent, and only where it is genuinely needed — to arrange your Overseas Student Health Cover, or where an institution requires a disclosure for a placement or a course with health requirements. We do not collect it to help us market to you, and you can decline. If you decline, we will tell you plainly what we cannot do for you as a result.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

• Give you course, institution and pathway advice
• Prepare and lodge applications on your behalf
• Follow up applications, offers, payments and your Confirmation of Enrolment
• Arrange your Overseas Student Health Cover
• Book and prepare you for PTE, NAATI and Professional Year programs
• Answer your questions and keep you updated on your application
• Meet our obligations to the institutions we work with
• Keep our own business records

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising to you unless you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We disclose your personal information to:

• Education institutions — universities, TAFEs and colleges, when we lodge an application for you or follow it up. This is the main reason we collect your information, and applications cannot proceed without it.
• Health insurers — the OSHC provider you choose, when we arrange your cover.
• Test and program providers — PTE, NAATI and Professional Year providers, where you ask us to book or enrol you.
• Our service providers — the companies that host our website, email and application records. They are bound to keep your information confidential and use it only to provide their service to us.
• Anyone else you tell us to — for example a parent, sponsor or education counsellor you have asked us to keep informed.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Sending information overseas

Some of the parties above are outside Australia, and APP 8 governs what we must do before your information goes to them.

Where we disclose your personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we remain accountable to you for what happens to it.

Ask us at any time which categories of recipient are overseas and where they are located, and we will tell you.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies and similar technology to remember your preferences and to understand how the site is used. We use Google Analytics for aggregate visitor statistics: how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they are in the world. We do not use it to identify you.

You can turn cookies off in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels on this website. Nothing you do here is used to follow you around other sites.

How long we keep it

We keep your file for seven years after your last contact with us, then destroy or de-identify it. We may keep some records longer where an institution agreement or the law requires it.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email info@edmark.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.

There is no charge for asking. If your request takes significant work, we will tell you the cost before we start.

You can also ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact our Privacy Officer at info@edmark.com.au with "Privacy complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge it and give you a written response.

If you are not satisfied with our response, or we do not respond, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the national privacy regulator, at oaic.gov.au. You do not need our permission, and you do not have to wait for us to finish.

We update this page when our practices change. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
